Joined in December 2009. Quickly gaining the impression that the site is a deserted wasteland.

Dude, I'm getting the same impression. Other than a few images posted lately, there is not a voice other than my own to be heard around here. It's truly saddening... there is so much talent here... but seemingly no community. Either nobody is here anymore, or everyone is waiting for somebody else to speak.

I'm just going to enjoy the art and maybe even post a few more of my own. Hopefully the community will revitalize itself soon!

Well it came up fast in the search engines so that is why I joined hope the site picks up.
