Organically EntangledPosted by Birdland Creations on 11/21/2008This is an art sculpture I created in my Free Form Woodworking class at Red Rocks CC. Our assignment was to have 6 blocks of wood 4 inches by 4 inches and create something out of it. I first saw this poplar piece with a green line going right down the middle and knew it was the wood to use. I first bandsawed out all the 6 pieces to a connection i was intrigued by. I then carved and spindle sanded the blocks to their shapes. Added the malachite crystals by inlaying them in four different pieces where the green streak of poplar was. I then used a burning tool and designs some interesting patterns to flow with the piece. I then used oil paint and followed the woodgrain in blending different colors on. I then shined it with a bunch of sprayed on coats of laquer. a near 40 hours put into this piece of art.
FOR SALE. Created by Steve Birdman Weber Jr using poplar, oil paint, burning tool, and malachite crystals. Created in Fall 2009 Semester at Red Rocks CC Images
